Mangalore : Twelve year old Amogh suffered damage to his eyes when he joined two of his friends who wanted to do an experiment with sodium hydroxide on the toilet floor not knowing its consequences.

The incident took place on September 16, when Amogh, a student of St Rita’s School  was called by two friends, when he was going home. The friends took him to the school toilet where they showed him Sodium hydroxide stolen from the school lab. They poured in on floor and asked Amogh to pour water. Amogh did so and soon his eyes were damaged as he bent towards the floor.

He was rushed to hospital and his left eye is now covered with bandage. He is the son of  Ashok and Asha of Mahakalipadpu. Ashok said doctors have advised rest for ten days. No police complaint has been lodged.
