Mangalore : BBM students of Srinivas Institute of Management Studies hurled an allegation against the college management collecting hefty fine from students for attendance shortage, just a day before the Mangalore University Semester exam at Pandeshwar on October 15, Wednesday.
Students also alleged that management denied to give the hall tickets to the students who could not pay the high fine amount.
They also said that college collected fine ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 70,000 from each student even though the University fixed the fine of Rs 900 per subject for attendance shortage.
Few who were denied hall tickets said that many did not have the attendance shortage as per the records of University. But students claimed that Principal collected the fee of Rs 700 per every additional class.
College Principal Dr PS Aithal, said that institution did not demand any fine from the students and that additional classes were conducted to the students having attendance shortage so that could appear for exams.
It is learnt that, many students had paid the fine amount to appear for exams which begins on October 16, Thursday without any option.
