Mangaluru : Many schools students staged protest against the transfer of additional teachers at Munnur, Bengare, Ullal Ombatthukere, Padupanambur, Marakada, Tadambail, Gurupura Nadugudde and other places on Thursday.
Students boycotted the classes and joined in the protest led by SFI, DYFI and SDMC.
Addressing the gathering at Munnur school AFI district President Nitin Kutthar said that the new transfer norms are unscientific. The norms are created to close the existing schools. Physical education is a part of studies. Providing one teacher only if 200 students present in the school is not fair.
Former Panchayat president Rehman said that the government is decreasing the quality of education being provided in the government schools. There is a unique relationship between students and the teachers, if the teachers are transferred then the students might leave the schools.
Students also spoke about their favourite teachers and urged the government to hold the transfer order. A memorandum was submitted to the DDPI and gathered people explained him about the importance of protest.
DYFI leader Imtiyaz, Santhosh Bajal, Riyaz, Kairunnisa and others were present.
In Bengare students boycott the midday meals and the gate was locked by the SDMC members.
