Mangaluru : Demanding immediate stopping of the on going work on the Yettinahole project, hundreds of Scores of college students affiliated to All College Students’ Association organized ‘Rasta Roko’ for several minutes in front of University College, Hampankattaon Friday September 4 here.
State legal advisor of All College Students’ Association, Dinakar Shetty addressed the protesters demanding, the government should immediately shelve this project. He also requested, people from all walks of life should join the protest against the ongoing implementation of the project, since it is bound to create, a man made threat to the people of Dakshina Kannada.”
Dinakar shetty alleged financial irregularities in the project and to compensate the loss to government,the assets of the officers involved in it should be attached. Severe water scarcity to the city is imminent, and if this project is not stalled,people may struggle to meet their water needs,” he added.Condemning the union law minister D V Sadananda Gowda and former minister Veerappa Moily who have taken a stand in favour of the project and appealed to them to first stand by the people of Dakshina Kannada. The students association will call for an internal meeting on holding all-college bandh on September 15.”
