Mangalore : The students of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, Mangalore organized a Prayer Meet and Silent Protest March up to Padavinangady, Bondel on January 4, Friday against atrocities committed on women and young girls.
The parents of the school, the staff and students of Infant Jesus Hr. Pry School and Vijaymari Technical Institute also participated in the protest.
The students observed a silent prayer in memory of the brave young girl, victim of the Delhi gang rape, followed by a short prayer service conducted by the students of Mount Carmel.
Vidya Dinakar addressed the gathering and said that when people feel the inner March within oneself towards social issues, the external protest march will be meaningful and bring about social change that we desire.
She urged all present to continue to raise voice against such atrocities, fighting for the protection of women’s dignity.
