Bantwal: Thousands of school students, members of various organizations and general public staged huge protests infront of BC Road taluk office on Friday against Karnataka government’s recent order which canceled the adoption of two schools, Sri Rama Vidya Kendra, Kalladka, and Sri Devi Vidya Kendra, Punacha located at Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district.
The protesters including 2,000 school students registered their protest against Karnataka state government’s move to cancel the financial support being provided to the schools for uniforms, mid day meal and others. The government’s order will adversely impact hundreds of the students from lower, middle class families of the district who depend upon the 2 schools for education, the protesters said.
Speaking to the protestes RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakara Bhatsaid, the state government took the decision as revenge against him even if hundreds of students from poor economic background are depend on the two schools. Speaking on his next move, Bhat said, he would request the people to support him to run the schools in the future also.
The two government aided private schools are being run by Sri Rama Vidyakendra Trust and the trust is led by RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakara Bhat.The state government reportedly cancelled the adoption of two schools following recent quarrel between the RSS leader and Congress party led state government over recent communal clashes.
In an order on July 31, 2017 Karnataka government cancelled financial aid, released through the Kollur Mookambika Temple, to two government aided private schools managed by the Sri Rama Vidyakendra Trust.
