Mangaluru: Students of all Pre-University colleges in the city boycotted classes and staged a protest in front of the DC office on October 6, Saturday demanding action against the Expert College for allegedly instigating the suicide of Nevil Saldanha Fernandes, a student of the institute who hailed from Goa. The protest was organised by All College Students’ Union.
Recently, a student of Expert College, Mangalore, committed suicide. All PU college student president Bhatesh Alakamazaju alleged that the management board of the student college was insulted and photographed him in the school computer board and pretended to be a big gangster and had auctioned himself before.
The protestors alleged that the police have not taken the incident seriously despite Nevil in his death note clearly stating as to who was responsible for his suicide.
The student leaders demanded compensation to the family of the deceased Nevil and also urged the authorities to take serious cognizance of the increasing cases of suicides of students in the district.
Dinaker Shetty, advocate and advisor of the Union, Bhathesh Alakemajalu, President of All College Students Union (PG), President of the PU unit of the Association Nihal Rai, Vice President Hitesh and many others took part in the protest.
