Subrahamanya: Combing operations by the ANF is in full swing in Palligadde area near Kulkunda in Subrahamanya, where there was an exchange of fire between ANF and Naxals on Sumday. It has been reported that there were nearly six Naxals who escaped in the forests under the cover of darkness.
On Monday ANF IGP Alok Kumar also took part in combing operations. The IGP has said that five teams of 15 members each has been formed to search for the Naxals and added three Naxals were seen during Monday’s operations. The combing operations are led by Deputy Commander SP Vasudev Murthi.
The ANF IGP has stressed the need for the locals to pass on information about Naxals to the ANF. On Monday, intelligence officials of the state and central governments and officials of forest and revenue departments inspected the place. Several elected representatives too visited the place and the villagers did not let go the opportunity and aired their grievances before the elected representatives.
Sunday’s exchange of fire has left the people of Palligadde terrified. Several people have preferred to remain indoors and some even developed health problems out of fear and have been hospitalized.
