Udupi : Various renovation works have been taken up at Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt as per the directions of Sri Eeshapriya Tirtha Swami, the seer of Paryaya Adamaru mutt.
Govindraj, administrator, Paryaya Adamaru mutt, told reporters on Saturday that various development works have been taken up at a cost of Rs 1.19 crore.
“Vishwapatha, a path for the convenience of devotees to visit Madhwa Sarovar (lake) and shrines in the temple in queue, has been developed at a cost of Rs 52.63 lakh. Painting the walls of mutt, electrical and other works have been taken up at a cost of Rs 31.88 lakh. The temple witnesses an average footfall of nearly 10,000 devotees every day. While ‘anna santharpane’ (midday meal) is being provided to all devotees. An average of 12,000 to 15,000 devotees take part in the mass lunch during holidays,” he said.
A Sudarshana Pass system introduced for devotees from the locality, who visit the temple every day, allows entry into the mutt through the northern entrance and have darshan of the deity. More than 7,000 devotees from the locality have availed the pass, which is valid for the entire family of local residents, he said.
A Swachhangana, toilet complex opened for the tourists near the Parking yard, will be opened after March 20. The renovation of Madhwa Sarovara, which is being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 15 lakh, will be completed in April. The Madhwa shrine in the middle of the lake will be renovated at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh, he added.
While all the rituals performed at the temple will continue as per traditions, Paryaya seer Sri Eeshapriya Tirtha Swami has suggested changes in the Rathotsava. Accordingly, Brahmarathotsava seve will be offered only on Wednesdays, Govindaraj said.
