Udupi: Under the Wildlife Act, no one is allowed to shelter a verity of wild animals at even to nurse them or protect them for disease or death.
No bird can be kept private premises. But Sudhindra Aithal, an activist of nature and wildlife, shelter animals and birds in his private animals resort at Saligramma near a temple.
Officers of a special mobile Squad arrived from Bangalore to arrest him and seize the animals and birds in his possession on Tuesday, February 28, as he had not released them after they regained health, into a forest or in the wild.
Aithal did not inform the forest department that he had Owls, Tortoises, Boars and other wounded animals, like Peacocks although no one could go near them. Hundreds of these wild animals maintained for 3 years by the benefactor were seizes and sent to a wild Sanctuary this week in Mysore and Mangalore by several officials.
