Mangalore : A  social service organization by name ‘Jaya Karnataka’ in the port city has sent a letter to the city police commissioner Seemanth K. Singh today, following a protest rally, that an orphan girl Dharmashree has complained to them that her friend Sudha was harassed by Balikashrama (of Mulky) hostel warden Ivorine Amanha and her assistant Rekha Burnaban to such an extent that Sudha attempted suicide recently.

The orphan girl survived the suicidal attempt and is undergoing recovery treatment in the Govt Wenlock District hospital’s Intensive care unit (ICU Wenlock) as an in-patient at the moment. The hostel authorities are desperately trying to cover up their serious guilt and have made hollow allegations against the orphan Sudha. They have threatened other inmates of the hostel that the latter would be discharged from the hostel if they meddled in the Sudha episode. Sudha has been a talented student with 80% marks in SSLC exam recently.

The Jaya Karnataka social service organisation wanted the district authorities (police and administration) to go through the case minutely to find out facts and punish the guilty after a sharp investigation in Sudha’s episode. Its members demonstrated at the City Police Commissioner’s office in the morning.

The letter was forwarded to the city police commissioner by Srikant Shetty, President, Shashidhar Shetty, DK unit general secretary, Janardhana Salian Talpady, Taluk unit chief of the JK Organisation, with copies to the Press today, for necessary action and relief to Sudha.
