Mangaluru : Three men reportedly abducted and gang-raped a 25-year-old woman at a rubber plantation in Sullia on Monday. The men allegedly drove the victim to her village after the crime, following which the rape survivor filed a police complaint.
The victim who lives with her family is a beedi worker. To make ends meet, she also supplied milk to the local dairy. On Tuesday, she was on her way to the dairy, when the three accused — two auto rickshaw drivers and one coolie — arrived in an autorickshaw and allegedly abducted her.
They then took the victim to a rubber plantation in Yenara and raped her. The identity of one of the rapists (coolie) was established on Tuesday evening, and a search is on for others.
The police who swung into action managed to nab all the three accused, who have been identified as Jayaprakash (25), Ranjith N K (20) and Ravindra (35), all residents of Amaramudnoor in the vicinity.
A complaint was filed on Tuesday morning. All the three were taken into custody when they were trying to flee after committing the crime at Chokkadi near here.
Police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
