Sullia : The Davangere police succeeded in arresting five culprits in connection with a house theft case at Sullia nearly a year ago.
The culprits were brought down from Davangere to Sullia on Tuesday by the Sullia police and an inquest was conducted at the spot of robbery.
On 9th October 2015, the culprits had broken into the house of Ramachandra P, a businessman, at Sullia and robbed gold jewels worth Rs.8 lakhs after tying the inmates of the house.
The arrested have been identified as Rangappa from Hosadurga taluk in Chitradurga district, Kumar alias Thilak Kumar from Mavinakatte in Channagiri taluk of Davanagere district, Sachin M.R. from Jayanagar, Davanagere, H. Krishnappa from Mouneshwar Extension, Davanagere and Sharanappa from Hiriyur in Chitradurga district and were involved in several cases of dacoity.
The accused were arrested by Hadadi police recently in connection with a robbery case in Davangere. During the course of the investigations, the culprits confessed to the robbery at Sullia. Two other culprits, Chandra and Esha are absconding and are yet to be nabbed. Police are also searching the person who had shown the house of Ramachandra to robbers.
The accused were taken to the residence of P.Ramachandra by a police team led by circle inspector V. Krishnaiah to extract more details on October 17. Ramachandra and his wife were not present in the house since they have gone out on an tour but the housemaid has identified the culprits.
