Sullia : A woman and child lost life at Kemraje, Nellur here on Sunday August 8.

The deceased have been identified as Sangeeta and her son Abhimanyu, residents of Kemraje.

Sangeeta and her son were on their way to visit a neighbour when Abhimanyu suddenly slipped and fell into a pond.  Sangeeta immediately jumped into the water to rescue him, but as she did not know to swim, she got drowned along with the child.

While Sangeeta’s body has been brought out from the pond, search is on to locate the child.

Sangeeta lived with her husband in Melkar. She was on a visit to her parental house in Kemraje, sources said.

Sullia police have registered a case.
