Sullia : Sullia police, acting on a tip off raided Kerpu in Devachalla village and seized two huge tusks weighing 19 kgs and worth Rs 66 lakhs. The police team was led by Sullia Circle Inspector Sudarshan.
The police first got in touch with the men in the guise of ivory traders. Later Sudarshan along with two men arrived at the spot mentioned by them in a private car and spoke to a man waiting for them.
After discussions they proceeded towards Kerpu where five others were waiting.As the police men in civil dress proceeded, another team stood guard outside. As the talks were underway the ivory stealers grew suspicions and tried to flee when one person was caught. He is Krishnaprasad from Jalsoor.
A jeep, two bikes and a Maruti Omni van hve been seized. Search for the other absconding accused is on.
