Mangalore: Sunil Kumar the main accused in the dowry death case of his wife, Sumitha (23) finally surrendered after absconding from his house with the other accused persons, to the Kankanady rural and Bantwal police on evening.
While his parents and sister Divya had remained untraced only Sunil Kumar came to the police station and was arrested immediately by the rural police who were hunting for him since Dec.17, after the death of Sumitha.
It may be noted that Sumitha had consumed 100 BP tablets for headache, and was admitted to hospital in a serious condition in Kankanady where she passed away one week later. Before death Sumitha had pointed out who were her torturers, namely Sunil and his 3 relatives.
The police have taken Sunil in to their custody to produce him in a court of law and proceed with the death case in full.
A postmortem exm of Sumithas body was under taken at the Kankanady hospital, and later the body was handed over to the sorrowing parents of Sumitha at her home town.
In the mean time Sharan Pompwell leader of Bhajarangadal in city denied that Sunil Kumar was a member of his outfit.
