Baikonur: NASA astronaut Sunita Williams says she is ready for her second expedition to the International Space Station (ISS). Williams, who has been assigned as the next commander of the ISS, says she is impatient to meet members from Expedition-32, who have been on board ISS since mid-May.
Daughter of an Indian American father from Gujarat and a Slovenian mother, Sunita is currently making final preparations for the Sunday launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, according to a NASA announcement.
She will be a flight engineer on the station’s Expedition 32 with Flight Engineers Yuri Malenchenko of the Russian Federal Space Agency and Akihiko Hoshide of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
On reaching the space station, she will take over as commander of Expedition 33.
Williams said, for her, travelling in space was easier then working on the ground. “On your question about what is more stressful, I would definitely say going to work in Houston is more stressful then the eight-minute rocket ride,” she said.
When asked what kind of music they will be listening to ahead of and during the flight, Williams said, “I sort of started thinking about this a little bit and The Black-Eyed Peas come to mind. And if you know the song ‘Tonight’s going to be a good time (night)’ and the second one, of course, is ‘Let’s Get This Party Started.”
