Mangaluru: Sunni Muslims to be graceful like Shia Muslims and help the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya said Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik on Tuesday.
Mutalik was addressing a gathering after inaugurating Shivaji idol at Moodushedde in the outskirts of the city on Sunday night. “Like Shia Muslims, who have joined hands with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Sunni Muslims also should favour construction of the temple,” he said.
In August this year, the Uttar Pradesh Shia central Waqf board, one of the parties in the litigation, favoured shifting of the demolished mosque to bring about a closure to the vexed dispute. The Shia board had said the mosque can be constructed away from the disputed land. The Board had told the Supreme Court that it was okay with a mosque built in a Muslim dominated area that is at a reasonable distance from the disputed Ramjanmabhoomi site .
“Hindus and Muslims have been living in harmony like brothers. This should extend to the construction of the temple and they should withdraw case,” he asserted.
