Mangaluru : After a gap of nearly 12 years, Supercross Championship – comes to Mangaluru, with the fifth round of the competition scheduled to be held on November 23.
Speaking in a press meet held at Gold Pinch hotel Thursday Nov 20 Brad Ripple, an American dirt bike specialist, said , for the first time in the championship, which has already seen rounds held at Nashik, Pune, Chennai and Coimbatore, the 900m-track in Mangaluru will feature three “table tops”.This would allow bikers to get jump to at least 20 feet.
However, the home-bred, two-time National Racing Championship winner, K.P. Arvind from Udupi will not be racing in front of him home audience due to a broken thumb, said Shyam Kothari, President of Godspeed racing which is organising the competition.
The competition will be held in eight categories, including one for juniors (under the age of 15) and a round for locals. Sudhir B.K., President of the Mangaluru Motocross Sports Association said nearly 15 persons had already registered for the competition. “These will be trained by Mr. Ripple for the competition in the days to come,” he said.
The competitions are scheduled to be held on November 23, starting 10 a.m. at Kulur, off National Highway 66.
