Mangalore: “The LPG cylinder bottling companies and the LPG cylinder supplying companies should ensure supply of accurate and net weighted gas cylinders to the consumers in terms of the directions issued by the Supreme Court and to follow the rules and conditions framed by the Legal Metrology Dept, which is mandatory”, said Mr. A.B. Ibrahim, D.K. Dist Dy. Commissioner in his inaugural address of the One Day Orientation Training Programme to confirm the accurate weight of the LPG Cylinders and its demonstration held on July 14 Monday at D.K. D.C. Office premises exclusively for the LPG cylinder suppliers and dealers. He further stressed that the LPG gas cylinders should be weighed and delivered at the doorsteps and in the presence of the consumers. The training and consumer awareness workshop was held for the first time of its kind in the State.
This consumer awareness workshop was organised by Rotary Club of Mangalore East as a part of their community service projects jointly with the Legal Metrology Dept, Mangalore. The Inspector of the Legal Metrology Dept Mr. Gajendra was the resource person. In his address, he elaborated on the supply and delivery of accurate weighed LPG cylinders to the consumers and revealed that the gross and net weight of the cylinders is indicated on the cylinders, which has to be ascertained by the consumers during delivery and they should ensure net weight 14.2 k.g. of LPG domestic cylinders and the commercial cylinder is 19.00 k.g. If there is any disparity, discrepancy it should be reported to the concerned Dept, he advised. The company delivery staffs are provided with the weighing equipment to felicitate this, he added. Asst controller Timmarayappa assisted him in the training programme.
Later, the company executives, dealers/distributors and the consumers had interaction with the D.C. on certain impending issues such as extra money demanded by the delivery staff, additional work, demand of additional wages etc which was sorted out by the D.C.

Mr. Sadashiv Prabhu and LPG cylinder bottling company executives Mr. Manikantan (H.P.C.L.), Mr. Vijay Surya (B.P.) and LPG cylinder supplying company’s staff actively participated in this workshop.
