New Delhi: The Supreme Court allowed an advocate, M.L.Sharma to submit additional documents based on and referring to assets of close relatives of former CJI K.G.Balakrishnan during his office as chief justice of Supreme Court. Sharma has moved the Apex Court against these relatives’ assets in excess made when KGB was CJI, for a probe.
Chief Justice S.H.Kapadia asked Sharma to file the new documents in a proper form within a fortnight. The additional papers relate to other properties acquired by two daughters and son-in-law of KGB, an affidavit by Sharma indicated.
The location and registration of sale deeds on these properties have been obtained by him. The relatives of KGB bought the properties much below the prevailing market rates, it was stated in the court today.
Sharma informed the court that vigilance wing of Kerala Income Tax department had recovered huge amounts of unaccounted money from Justice K.G. Balakrishnan’s daughters and relatives, recently as on 21-02-2011, two weeks ago.
The SC Bench on 18-02-2011 had asked Attorney General G.E.Vahnvati on the fate of an earlier complaint of a journalist in Delhi, made an 05-05-2010, on Balakrishnan’s relatives.
