New Delhi: Prof. Yeshwant Rao Yuva Puraskar (youth Award) – 2011, instituted in 19971 by ABVP and vidyarthi Nidhi, a Trust, has been given to Ms. Manan Chaturvedi of Jaipur in Rajasthan.
The award, carrying a cheque or cash for Rs. 50,000, a citation and memento, will be presented to Ms. Manan C, by Justice R.C. Lahoti, retired CJI, Supreme Court, on 4th January, 2012 during a special function of 57th conference of ABVP due in Delhi held from 4th to 6th January, 2012, a release informed here.
The award is given annually to one of the young social workers in various fields of public service since 2 decades.
Several nominations had been received from all over the country this year, for this Puraskar.
Ms. Manan rejected a job offer from abroad in a garment manufacturing co., when at Sindhi bus stand in Jaipur, she saw a girl of 13 without any clothes, looking for food in a garbage bin.
That changed her ideas of visiting USA, when children in India were suffering from hunger and want of clothing.
Ms. Manan started a resort in Jaipur for such poor and naked children providing biscuits and medicines to the unlucky, under a project called “Surman Palna Sukhashram,” instead of Fashion Designing that she learnt in Delhi.
There are 44 destitute children in her shelter today, which started with a mother and two kids, all helpless. Later there was which 17 such destitute kids, whom she maintained with love, like a family.
A small flat was hired to keep all these kids happily. Manan has her own 3 children living with them. She refused Government finance and adoption of her children (44) by any parents from anywh
