According to the police sources, confirmed that Umesh Kumar will be posted as sub-inspector at Mangalore traffic (West), but Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) N. Vishnuvardhan has dismissed any such decision.
Other report also stated that Umesh Kumar may get the post of Sub-inspector in Surathkal police station, as favoured by local MLA Mohiuddeen Bawa.
It must be recalled that based on the reports submitted by DCP confirming that Charan was assaulted by Umesh Kumar on the hips, Police Commissioner R. Hithendra passed the order of suspension to Umesh Kumar.
The action was taken by the commissioner after the series of protests in front of the Kavoor Police Station staged by Bajrang Dal activists seeking action against Umesh Kumar.
Whereas District-in charge minister B. Ramanath Rai and congress leaders showed dissatisfaction over the transfer of Umesh Kumar, stating that action was taken to the pressures of pro-Hindu activists.
He also said that anyone who hindered the police officials from doing their duty impartially by picketing police stations and protesting should be arrested without paying attention to political pressure.
