Mangaluru: As per the Cleanliness survey by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Mangaluru city has achieved first place in the category of solid waste management. The award presentation programme for this will be held at Indore in Uttar Pradesh on June 23rd.
The award will be accepted by Mangaluru Mayor Bhaskar K., MCC Health Standing Committee president Naveen D’Souza, Commissioner Mohammed Nazeer and environment engineer Madhu.
27 cities from the state had taken part in the last times cleanliness survey. Of them, Mangaluru City Corporation achieved the 63rd position nationally. During the 2016 cleanliness survey, cities with more than 10 lakh population were considered.
In 2017, cities with more than 1 lakh population were considered. This time, all the cities in India have been considered. In this way, Mangaluru city has come first nationally for the best management in solid waste disposal.
