Mangalore: With a large number of Mangaloreans seeking to enrol their names in the voters’ list, the Election Commission has opened a desk at the Mangalore City Corporation’s sub-office at Mallikatta.
The Mallikatta office will receive applications for registering citizens’ names in the voters’ list, correction of data in the list, and deletion and transfer of names, said N. Gokuldas Nayak, Returning Officer, Mangalore City South and Joint Commissioner at the corporation.
It has been opened after taking into account the heavy rush of people at the election desk opened at the ground floor of the city corporation building at Lalbagh on Wednesday, he said.
Mr. Nayak said the Mallikatta desk received 86 applications on the first day.
He said three persons have been deputed at the helpdesk at Lalbagh to give required information to people.
A computer facility has been allocated for this purpose. In addition, the desk has one more computer and draft voters’ lists have been kept for people to verify their names.
Mr. Nayak said three lists of the documents to be attached with electoral roll applications have been displayed prominently.
