Madikeri (Kodagu): Thousands of eager devotees will take a plunge in a small tank, attached to a tiny pond where Ganga meets Cauvery at 3.11 am (time fixed as per Astrology) on early Oct.18 (Monday) in the origins of Cauvery river, a point known as Talacauvery.
All arrangements are made to receive the devotees (local Kodavas), visitors and tourists coming from other parts of India, especially the South and abroad.
The concerned officials carried the golden ornaments traditionally used for decorations at the holy pool of Cauvery origin, on Friday (Oct.15th) to the accompaniment of musical instruments. The moment of spring (Ganga with Cauvery water) coincides this year with culmination of Dushera in Kodagu, on a holiday declared for the purpose.
There could be heavy rush of devotees to the renovated area of Bhagamandala and surroundings of Talacauvery on which the state has spent about Rs.20 crores for upkeep. Drinking water, vehicles parking and lighting arrangements also are provided at the mountain top here. Speaker Bopiah has supervised the area developments to receive people at large. It is a meeting point of rivers and devotees across the Indian states.
