Mangaluru  : The first ever tallest 14 feet chariot in the State designed by Swarna Jewellers of Udupi will be dedicated to Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kateel, on February 8.

Silver weighing 175 kg and 11 kg gold has been used in the chariot which will be 14 feet tall. The quality of the gold has been checked in NITK Surathkal under the supervision of Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim.

Managing Director of Swarna Jewellers Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak said that parts of the chariot will be joined in the temple. The chariot has been built as per Vastu and the construction has been done in four stages. Wood work has finished completely. The workers are now involved in gold design work.The chariot will have figurines of Asta Lakshmis, Navadurgas, gods worshipped during Navaratri, lion and elephant.
