Mangalore : The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Premises in city was a host to Tamilnadu handicrafts exhibition from various States in India under the name of “ Poompuhar’’ that exhibits Tamailnadu Textiles ,handicrafts, Artificial Jewelery, Bronze Icons, Thanjavur Art plates, Thanjavur Paintings, Soap Stone, Dress Materials, Silk Sarees, Channapatna & Kondapalli Toys and the like, which are meant for citizens of Mangalore and the coastal region who have a special eye for such thinks to purchase and decorate their homes.
The exhibition was inaugurated by S. Ajithkumar Hegde, Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation at 5.30 p.m on Friday and it will run daily from 11a.m to 9 p.m up to 27th of January.
Hegde expressed his appreciation of Tamilnadu handicrafts made by hundreds of Tamil craftsmen and women, and sold all over India has village industries products. He urged the Mangaloreans to show a keen interest in such exhibitions of products of less educated and downtrodden people from far of villages in several states who live by their handi works and not by agriculture.
A special discount of 10% has been announced on all materials purchases made in the exhibition, while honouring Bank credit cards.
The Poompuhar sales and showroom employees of Bangalore unit were present at the Crafts Mela on Friday.
