Mangalore : The Tourism Authority of Thailand has plans to boost tourism by attracting more tourists from Mangalore to Thailand. On January 11, Friday, it organised a programme at Hotel Gateway to present Thai culture and traditions. Attractive Thai dance was presented on the occasion, and Thai tradition was also on display.
Speaking at the function, Sethaphan Buddhani, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mumbai office, said Thailand sees Mangalore as a market for the growth of Thai tourism and pointed out that most Indian travelers from Thailand were from smaller pockets. He said Thailand received 10,16.013 tourists in 2012 as against 9,16,787 in the previous year, thereby registering a growth of 11 per cent.
As a part of the strategy for 2013, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will be promoting newer destinations in Northern Thailand including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Khao Yai along with attractions from South- Trang, Surat Thani and Koh Samui.
