Belthangady : A tourist taxi driver who was on a morning walk was brutally hacked to death by his own son and the other two persons near the Belthangady Junior College road on August 24, Monday morning.

The deceased is Vasu Sapalya (65). He was working as a taxi driver in Belthangady.

The suspicion is that his second son named Dayananda (38) with whom Vasu had a property dispute was behind the dastardly act. It is learnt Dayananda used to pick up quarrel with his father often in a drunken state. The issue had even reached the police station.

It is learnt Dayananda was missing since this morning and his mobile phone is also found switched off. Though a critically injured Vasu Sapalya was immediately rushed to hospital, his life could not be saved.

Senior police officials have visited the spot. Belthangady Police have registered a case and are investigating. Police have found a machete at the place of the attack.
