Chikmagalur : A teacher who allegedly molested a student was thrashed by the residents of Uppalli in the taluk on Wednesday. Police resorted to mild caning to bring the irate crowd under control.

The villagers said the incident came to light when the girl refused to go to school. Asked for the reason, she revealed her torment at the school. As the news spread, a group of villagers beat up Manappa, the headmaster of government higher primary school.Police have taken the teacher into custody. DH News
