Mangalore : MLC Ivan D’Souza said that along with politicians and police, the Deputy Commissioner must also call teachers of area where communal clashes take place so that they can prevent it from worsening the situation by talking to the parties.

He was speaking Teacher’s day celebration organized by DK Zilla Panchayat and Public education department at Town Hall on September 5, Friday.

Ivan further said that during the communal clashes the words of police or the politicians do not work but they will surely respect the word of their teachers who has taught them. There are around 6 lakhs teaching post vacant in the state, he added.

Delivering the presidential address MLA J R Lobo said that apart from agriculture, Human resource is another important factor required to build the country and good human resource can be produced only by the teachers.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that India is the only country where teachers are respected the most. The contribution of teacher in building the nation is tremendous. Unfortunately today the the education system have become commercial and this must be stopped.

MCC Mayor Mahabala Marla, retired teacher Raghav D and retired headmaster of Milgres School Herald M. Monteiro also spoke on the occasion.

Vasudeva Rao and Raghav D, were honoured for receiving district Best Teacher’s award. Certificates were distributed to those schools which received 100% results in the SSLC exams.
