Mangalore : The members of Karnataka State Teachers – Lecturers action committee organized a protest in front of DC office on February 13, Wednesday demanding the hike in salary and house rent allowance.
Addressing the protestors, Dakshina Kannada district committee president Shivashankar Bhat K, said that teachers and lecturers are paid less in Karnataka, compared to other states.
He also urged the state government to merge the special wages into the basic pay, they receive.
Bhat said that the House Rent Allowance in Bangalore city was increased by 25% to 30 %, but the government neglected the plea of 5 lakh teachers and lectures of rural areas. The state government must consider the appeal of teaching staffs of rural areas and implement the hike of HRA, without being biased, he added.
The protestors also submitted a memorandum to State Government through DC N Prakash.
Committee members Ramakrishna Allar, Ramakrishna Shiroor , Shivaprasad Vice President, Karnataka State Teachers – Lecturers Association, Mamachan Treasurer Karnataka State Teachers – Lecturers Association , Jagadisha Shetty Secretary, Karnataka State Teachers Association South Block and others were present.
