Mangalore : Mangalore based hobby group of kite flyers -‘Team Mangalore’, will be taking part in the 17th International Kite Festival to be held at Dieppe, France. The team has been officially invited by Sebastian Jumail, Mayor of Dieppe to take part in the event to be held from September 8 to 17. Kite Flyers from 42 countries from all over the world are taking part in the ten day event with the theme ‘Five Elements.’
The Team Mangalore is the only team representing India in this International Kite Festival. Team Mangalore will be represented by Sarvesh Rao, Dinesh Holla, Sathish Rao, Shashank Shetty and Pran Hegde. Dinesh Holla, artist of the Team Mangalore will be exhibiting over 35 artworks related to kites during the festival at the special exhibition stands.
Team Mangalore will be presenting its new creation “Pancha Bhootha.” The kite is made up of rip stop nylon fabric in Rokaku (hexagon) shaped measuring 5 Feet by 4 feet..
Another new creation of the Team Mangalore is “Pakshiraja Garuda”, an appliqué work kite with wing spread of 18 feet and height of 9 feet. The team will also fly special kites like Yakshagana, Kathakalli, Gajaraja, Charlie Chaplin, Avatar Bird, Bharathnatya, Pushpaka Vimana, etc.
The “Kathakkali” kite of Team Mangalore has found its place as the “Largest Kite in India” in the Limca Book of Records.
