Mangalore: The Team Mangalore, an amateur group of 4 kite fliers of India won accolades in Negombo, Sri Lanka for their special brand of unique and traditional colourful kites, filling the Lankan skies on Thursday.
These men had earlier flown over continental skies of Asia, Europe and America, to impress thousands of viewers there.
Sarvesh Rao and his team exhibited their flair for kite-flying in Ravana’s Lanka in 2011, manouvering giant kites they had taken there from Kanara coast.
Themes like Bharathanatyam, Yakshagana and kathakkali players filled the air in full colours and dimensions. Bhoota Kola and Pushpaka Vimana(of Ravana) were shown in splendour, at the show-organised by Nilhare Wasanthaya-2011 celebrations.
Large audiences watched the show on southern Lankan beaches. Team Mangalore has more engagements at Panambur beach and in Italy in 2012.
