Mangalore : Zilla Panchayath CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash inaugurated the ‘Technical Seminar’ held as a part of ‘World Veterinary Day 2012’ at Hotel Deepa Comfort on April 28, Saturday.
The event was jointly organized by DK Zilla Panchayath, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Mangalore, Karnataka Veterinary Council, Karnataka State Government Veterinarians Association and Karnataka Veterinary Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr K N Vijayaprakash said that today the animal lovers have decreased in the country, since the people are busy in their business and personal welfare.
He also said that the generation has reached to such an extent that we do not have time to look after one’s own health. The people are running after work from morning to night but do not know what they have gained. Hence little service and affection showed towards animals will surely repent when we are lonely.
Earlier in the villages, people used to keep water in the vessel outside the house, so that animals would come and drink water and would also sprinkle some sugar for the ants, but today these have disappeared, he said.
He also said that now a day’s birds and animals die at large number after drinking the stagnant water from some pond or also place, due to toxic materials in it, hence further the city must also look for Liquid Waste Management, he added.
Ravi Kumar Kakade, managing director of DK Milk Union and Mrs K Rohini, District Information and Publicity Officer participated as the chief guest on the occasion.
Dr G Shivananda, president of KVD was present on the dais.
