New Delhi: Seemandhra Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal met Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar to convince her to accept his resignation following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Rajagopal and other Seemandhara MPs have been insisiting that the Speaker should accept their resignations. Sources have told CNN-IBN that Rajagopal will address the media at noon today.
Rajagopal, who is an MP from Vijayawada, had announced he would take “political sanyas” if Andhra Pradesh was divided.
The Congress is determined to go ahead with Telangana. Congress General Secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh reiterated that there is no question of going back on Telangana. Talking to CNN-IBN Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, he said, “the decision has been taken after a detailed discussion with all the stake holders including all political parties. It is not a hasty decision. The Centre will try its best to create Telangana before the coming general elections and the Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls.”
