Mangalore: The area near the Padil railway crossing in Mangalore witnessed confusion and tension on October 11, Thursday evening when agitated public began to protest against the closure of the railway gate for over an hour.
Several people who were waiting for the gate to open for over an hour after 8 pm lost their patience when the guard failed to respond to their plea to open the gate. The guard was attacked, the railway track blocked and a train stopped.
The situation was later brought to control by the police officials who rushed to the scene. The track was cleared later on.
The railway authorities have clarified that at times there would be such delay when there were a number of trains to pass.
