Mangaluru : The city police’s Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) team is ready for functioning in the Police Commissionerate limits.
On June 16, the Squad personnel even presented a mock drill on an anti-terrorist operation at the Police Grounds here. The team will be first responders to attacks by terrorists and other anti-national groups in the city.
The SWAT has 35 personnel who have completed two months training at the Centre for Counter Terrorism at Kudlu in Bengaluru.
City Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, “The CCT team of 30 members underwent two months of physical and mental training and skill sharpening. The training included room intervention, hostage rescue, and handling weapons under specialized circumstances tackling anti-social elements.
