Mangalore : The birth place of Koti-Chennaya Tulunadu hero’s and twins at birth, as been identified at Padumale in Putturu Taluk recently. Proposals for its multitudinel development were discuss after a lamp was lit in their memory at Kankanady Garodi in City on Sunday, November 9.
Dakshina Kannada Minister in-charge B.Ramanath Rai formulated the proposals from the government to decorate the birth place with a temple and the idols of twins. People present, all devotees requested the Minister to allot Rs.5 crores in the early budget for the purpose. Rai promise them to look into the matter and released more funds to construct the temple and decorate the surroundings.
Mr. Ragunatha Rai president of Foundation which will look after the development of 60 acres of Padumale as a tourist center with monuments and other exhibits in the area informed that all nessesaries steps would be taken to remember the historic feats of brothers Koti Chennaya in Padumale, Panja , Yenmur.
Sudhakar Suvarna , Joint action committee leader in the matter, legistraters Shakunthala Shetty (Puttur), Vinaya Kumar Sorake (Udupi), and past president of Puttur Taluk Panchayath, Mohammad Badagannur also spoke on the occasion, giving suitable ideas for the full development and structures coming up in Padumale , identified in school text books of youre but not found now. They urged that the present text books should have lesson on Koti Chennai in Tulu and Kannada text books.
