Bangalore: 6 senior photo-journalists were honoured with (late) T.S. Satyam Memorial Awards (first year) for their valuable contributions camera/publicity words of glamour, by state Governor at the Raj Bhavan on Sunday, Dec 18.
Yajneshwar Acharya (also known simply as yajna) from Mangalore, was one of them.
A side-show conjuring up their work was presented on the occasion. The awards had been instituted by Karnataka Photo-News brotherhood in memory of a great and simple photographer T.S. Satyan who also wrote news items in his time.
K. Gopinathan of the Hindu in city, was given the best newspaper photojournalist award. Yajna took the lifetime achievement award.
‘Regret’ Iyer of Bangalore, Netra Raju (Mysore), B.P. Chandra (The Week) and M.S.Gopal of Mumbai were among the awardees.
The Govenor in his speech said that reporters should be paid better. Columnist T.J.S. George congratulated the lensmen K.N. Shanthkumar (Prajavani) also spoke.
K. Gopinathan rplied to the felicitations.
