Mangalore : To ensure faster supply of fuel for police vehicles and to increase transparency in the claiming of fuel bills, the police department distributed ‘Petro cards’ to personnel of the western range police here on Sunday july 13.
The district in charge minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the programme, minister distributed the petro cards to the police personnel after the inauguration.
Speaking after inauguration Rai said, the department is provided with such facilities they should work intelligently and create awareness about the law among the people.
Amrit Paul, IGP, Western range said, the card allows nearly 149 police vehicles of the district fill up at any of the 43 Indian Oil Corporation Petrol stations in the district.
The card reduces the paperwork (providing of paper bills that are then produced to the department by the policeman) needed to refuel. He said.
MLA Shakuntala Shetty, MLA J R Lobo, SP Dr Sharannappa, Deputy Commissioner A.B.Ibrahim, Police Commissioner R Hithendra and others were present.
