Mangaluru: Prophet Muhammad who strongly advocated truth and non-violence, tolerated all difficulties that he faced while treading the path shown by Allah. He fought the war for the cause of peace. There is no point in describing this war as Jihad. The term Jihad has been misconstrued in the present times,” said Swami Lakshmi Shankeracharya of Kanpur.
He was speaking on the topic ” Reforms in Society : On the light of Prophet Muhammad’s teachings” during a Seerat Seminar organised at the Town Hall as part of the state level Seerat campaign with the theme “Prophet Muhammad- Supreme Guide of Mankind.”
Continuing, he said there was nothing called terrorism in Islam, what the religion has is Idealism, he added.
The function was inaugurated by Maulana Muhammad Iqbal Mulla, National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Seerat Campaign Committee President and Chairman and Managing Director of Unity Health Complex Dr C P Habeeb Rehman presided over the function.
