Udupi : Udupi Zilla Panchayat President Katapady Shanker Poojari has emphasized the need for a movement to check the spread of Malaria.
He was speaking at the inaugural of anti-Malaria month programmes organiseed at the DC office here on June 28, Thursday under the auspices of the Zilla Panchayat, Department of Health and Udupi TMC. The ZP Chief also called upon the public to ensure preventive measures towards the spread of malaria.
Dr Ashok, District in-charge Malaria control officer who spoke on the occasion said a total of 19 cases of Malaria were detected in Udupi town, Hiriadka and Hirebettu in June. He also informed that there were 18 Dengue cases and added eight teams have been formed to work towards checking the spread of the disease.
Udupi CMC Chairman Kiran Kumar presided over the function. Kumar, in-charge DC, Jyothi Seetaram Shetty, ZP Vice President, District Health Officer Dr Ramachandra Bairi, CMC Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak and others were present on the occasion.
