Mysore: Government officials in Mysore have set a trend for many others to follow. They have decided to go Green. They have decided to keep aside their cars and other vehicles for a day and bicycle their way to their offices, at least once a day every week that is every Monday.
The Mysore District Deputy Commissioner PS Vastrad has made this a rule to all government officials and staff. Even IAS and KAS officers are seen on roads riding bicycles on way to office. On July 2, Monday, even DC Vastrad gave a pleasant surprise to Mysore people by seeing on a two seater bicycle along with his gunman. As people recognized him and waved at him, even the DC waved back. Certainly his move would be welcomed by one and all, and would also encourage people to go his way.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the Mysore Urban Development Authority Commissioner Dr CG Betasurmutt, has even made it a point that the office gates will not be opened for staff who arrive by their motor cycles on Monday. They would be sent back home and will be permitted only if they come by bicycles.
A good tend that needs to be emulated by other cities in the state. On Monday, Mysore Corporation Commissioner, ZP CEO, MUDA Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies Department Deputy Director and several officials have arrived by bicycles. Even the traffic police have made arrangements for a separate lane for the officials cycling their way to office and encouraging the public to follow suit.
