Brahmavar: Thieves looted silver, gold and bronze ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh from the Sri Kalikamba temple at Barkoor here on the wee hours Friday.

The thieves entered the temple by breaking open the main door. The incident came to light in the morning when the temple priests arrived.

The CCTV footage confirmed that the theft took place in the midnight and that two thieves were in the temple for almost one-and-a-half-hours.

The police said, silver ornaments weighing about 14 kgs, two gold chains and few bronze articles have been robbed.

Fingerprint experts arrived to the spot. A complaint has been registered at Brahmavar police station.
