Bantwal: Unidentified thieves stole gold jewelry, cash of Rs 40,000 from the residence of document writer KP Baninthaya during afternoon hours of Wednesday. The value of stolen valuables is estimated at Rs 4.50 lakh and police investigation is in progress to nab the culprits.

The incident took place when all the members of family were out of the resident on their routine activities. The incident came into light when one of the neighbors sighted the culprits crossing the gate after their act. The neighbor immediately informed the advocate Raghavendra one of the members of the family. However, the thieves were managed to escape from the area even if the advocate rushed into the spot soon after the information on the theft.

There three culprits reportedly involved in the theft case, according to the eye witnesses. The police along with dog squad, finger print experts visited the spot and investigation is in progress.
