Mangalore : The third (annual) day-long conference of the National Federation of Telecom Employees (BSNL), was held on Friday Nov15,2013 at the Nasik Banger Hall, Police lane Mangalore.
The DK District conference was inaugurated by J.R Lobo South Mangalore MLA, who in his speech said that the workers and company in which they work are mutually related and dependent on one another for their growth and development in every way.
Lobo added that many years ago it was social matter of reputation to have a phone in every home, but Sam Pithroda a versatile telecom. engineer who had been to America and back, revolutionised in the telephone system in the rule of Rajiva Gandhi as Prime minister and made the phone every bodies object in hand. Their after Mobile phone ruled in every pocket. Private companies entered in to competition to serve the people at large in India. Hence BSNL had to be privatised to serve every section of the people young and old.
The customers have a wide choice of phones from many companies and there is a large market for talking on phone.

The promoter of High school from his own limited savings, known as ` Saint of letters ( Akshara santa)’, Harekala Hajabba a seller of fruits and Nagaraj of Bangalore a retired leader of the union who built it to a strength among employs were honoured on the occasion for their selfless services to the mankind around them.
