Mangaluru: Justice for Kavya Horata Samithi staged protest in-front of DC office on Wednesday urging the police department and state government to intensify investigation into the mysterious death of school student Kavya (16).
Students, general public hold huge protest, rally by thousands in the city has created traffic jam and has attracked the public attention. The parents of the student, Kavya have also present in the protests.
Students from various educational institutions in Dakshina Kannada came by 20 buses arranged by Biruver Kudla and people have criticized the move of the police in the case as they have failed to take action against the staff of the Alav’s institute as the staff allegedly involved in the mysterious death of the student.
State level Badminton player, tenth standard student Kavya was found hanged at her hostel room of Alva’s institute in Moodbidri last month. Parents, students of the institute raised suspicion on the death of the student and urged the police department and concerned authorities to investigate matter to reveal the truth.
Following the request by Mangaluru Kateel based parents of the student, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner TR Suresh ordered for an investigation into the death of the student and investigation is reportedly in progress. Meanwhile, Moodbidri police who investigated the case stated that the student hanged self to commit suicide in her hostel room and no suspicious issues found inconnection to the death.
Addressing the protesters Mayor Kavitha Sanil said, Kavya’s mother expressed me her suspicion behind her daughter’s death, which is natural for a mother who has lost her daughter. Kavya’s parents should not live in suspicion, instead, all her questions should be answered and and will try to get Rs.25 lakh compensation to Kavyas family, she said.
President of Justice for Kavya Forum Dinakar Shetty said, Kavya’s case is as important as the Nirbhaya case, hence students have descended on the streets today. Do not test the patience of students, he said.
Kavya’s mother Baby Poojary said, I have faith in justice, everyone to join her fight to seek justice for Kavya. She alleged that the institution heads are trying to hush up the case. “Kavya is my daughter and at the same time, she is your sister. Support us in our fight for justice,” she made an emotional appeal to the mammoth gathering.
Kavya’s father Lokesh, Birver Kudla president Udaya Kumar,Anil Das of Karnataka Rakshna Vedike, Naveenchandra Suvarna, Social activist Robert Rosario, CITU leader Sunil Kumar Bajal, Billava Ekikarana Samiti secretary Ravi, SFI district president Nitin Kuttar, DYFI president Santhosh Bajal, Dalita Sanghatane member Anand Bellare, parents of Soujanya who was murdered in Dharmasthala and many others were present.
