Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police has nabbed three persons for serial house thefts in city limits. Among them two including a woman were involved in selling of the booty robbed from houses.
Police have recovered 131 gram gold ornaments, Rs 15,000 cash, cellphone, a bike, four wheeler and lethal weapons, valued around Rs 8,44, 657. The arrested persons have been identified as Jayanth, 23, resident of Kadachil House, Katipalla. Jayanth is main accused and Vijwal Poojary, 23 and Gunavathi, both residents of Madya, Katipalla were helping Jayanth to dispose stolen booty.
Police said Jayanth was a habitual offender and had three cases booked against him. He was released on bail two months ago after which, he struck a house in Bondel and made away with valuable worth Rs 3,50,000. In the second incident, he broke open a house around 9.45am in Urwa Store and fled away with 20 sovereign gold. He is earlier booked for attempt to murder, extortion and robbery.
Second accused Vijwal too has criminal antecedents. He was booked for murder, attempt to murder in Karkala and Panambur. He was released four months ago on bail and is an accomplice of rowdy sheeter Kodikere Manoj.
After theft, Jayanth used to hand over valuables to Vijwal and Gunavathy where they pledged same in finance companies. Vijwal and Gunavathy were given with some amount for their help.
A case has been registered at Kavoor Police Station.
